Estate
The house is situated within a classical estate with no modern character but incredible views.
Views
Views extended through a 180 degree angle of the Indian ocean. Situated on the edge of the estate on the verge of hill. The design ensures framed views of a river mouth from the braai area as well as sea vistas from the main bedroom, study, main bathroom and downstairs bedrooms and lounge.
Natural Material
As concrete specialist the clients required the inclusion of natural material throughout the house. Dry stacked slate are used to clad entrance columns and extend into the house to lead one.
Entrance
The entrance was positioned to take visitors breath away with the spectacular view.
Connections
Throughout the house, passages are not just passages but act as bookshelves, wine stores, studies and even art, thus eliminating wasted space.
Light
Light fills the house through the central clear story skylight, which serves as the main space, defining space within the open plan dining lounge and kitchen. The rest of the house receives natural light through over-sized windows stack doors and sliding doors on the southern elevation towards the spectacular view.
